日本製:にほんせい: things (usually electronics or clothes) made in Japan.

日本の出身:しゅっしん: a person BORN in a certain place. "どちらの御出身?”= Which city were you born in?

日本の方:かた: a person who COMES FROM a certain place.??? still don't understand the difference. My pal said something about second-generation japanese immigrants still being nihon no kata, but not nihon no shusshin. is that true????

You can 't say "I'm Americaの方” nor can you say "I'm America の出身”。 They're used when asking someone else.
